The driveway leading to Chateau de La Valouze is a beautiful, dramatic entrance to the most spectacular, fairy tale chateau based just outside of Bordeaux, France in the heart of the Perigord region. There was no surprise Leona & Peter fell in love with this private location and chose it to host their wedding celebration. Not only are the grounds to this Chateau spectacular but the rooms, decorated in their own unique styling are the most perfect place for the bridal and grooms party to prepare for their special day ahead. We joined Leona and the girls in the bridal suite, which is beautiful and airy with plenty of room and light for hair and make-up. Leona was calm and collected as Virginie’e (Based in Bordeaux) applied her natural, flawless make up. The bridesmaids were taking their turns to have their hair done by hairstylist Annie Salamon and both mothers came for a little bit of pampering too! We popped up to the top floor to join Peter and his grooms party in the totally unique ‘Hunting Lodge’ themed suites they were using. The boys were calm and relaxed and Peter was finishing off getting ready with a little help from a groomsman to get the double Windsor knot just right! Peter wore a stone coloured 3-piece stone Hackett London suit with a double breasted waistcoat which suited him perfectly. They fixed each other’s ties up before enjoying a quick glass of whisky before making the way down to the guests awaiting them in the grounds.
The ceremony took place on the lawns under a huge oak tree, the styling was simple and elegant with a gold metal arch adorned with fresh flowers and foliage as the focal piece by the talented Atelier Septembre floristry team. Hanging pastel flower arrangements and petals lined the aisle in which the bridesmaids and Leona walked. The ceremony was personal and relaxed and the French afternoon sun light glistened over them as they made their vows to one another, the happiness blatant across their face and in their giggles.
Le Plaisir du Gout were responsible for the exquisite food including delightful cocktails and appetisers followed by a wedding breakfast of lobster and gazpacho to start and beef in Bordelaise sauce and dauphinoise potatoes to die for, all paired with wine for each course. Dessert was a choice of no less than 4 different options for Leona & Peter’s guests.
Peter and Leona had booked the awesome well known French band Monk who got the evening going and played an amazing version of one of Leona & peter’s favourite songs, Bruce Springsteen’s I’m on Fire for their first dance. Straight after the dancefloor was filled by what seemed like all 80 guests dancing the night away to Monk .
A truly beautiful wedding in Bordeaux, with true elements of French wedding style and a whole lot of Irish fun! Congratulations again Leona & Peter!
